Permian Basin Area Foundation awards $317,400 in grants to nonprofits
July 8, 2009 MIDLAND, Texas Permian Basin Area Foundation announced $317,400 in grant awards to regional nonprofit organizations during a new conference held today at the Girl Scouts of the Permian Basin Service Center in Odessa.
“Today, the Foundation is excited to recognize the good works of 28 area nonprofits with grants totally more than $317,000,” said Guy McCrary, Foundation president and CEO. “These grants, which reflect the passions of our many donors, include education, culture and the arts, health and safety, youth programs, and care for citizens in need.”
“It is inspiring to see the enormous benefits derived from the charitable gifts of the Foundation and its donors,” said Carolyn Stone, who co-chairs the Foundation’s Grants Committee with Suzy Boldrick. “Thank you to all of you who make these grants possible. Your investment will have a profound effect on the lives of our West Texas neighbors. ”

- Midland Fair Havens, Inc.
- Midland Habitat for Humanity
- Midland/Odessa Area AIDS Support, Inc.
- Midland Opera Theater
- Midland Palette Club
- Midland Teen Court
- Nonprofit Management Center
- Presbyterian Children’s Home & Services
- Recording Library for the Blind & Dyslexic
- Safe Place of the Permian Basin
- SHARE
- The Springboard Center
- West Texas Library System
The Foundation’s spring grants also included the first distributions from the Dollie Ruth Neal Education Fund to support education programs of organizations that serve young women managing single-mother households. Nonprofits that received these grants are:

- Midland Fair Havens, Inc.
- Wake Up and Dream
Sondra Eoff highlighted the importance of area nonprofit organizations. “Nonprofit organizations play a vital role in improving the quality of life for area residents. From assistance to children and parenting classes to housing and facility improvement, the Foundation and its donors are grateful for the commitment of our nonprofits.”
The Foundation awards grants following review of applications submitted in the spring and fall. Fall grant pre-applications are due at the Foundation’s offices on or before October 1, 2009.
