Scholarships: James C. Pitts, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

An outstanding role model, James C. Pitts, Jr. devoted his entire life to the education of all children and this scholarship demonstrates his love, compassion, commitment and integrity to those students he wished to impact through his gift of teaching. The scholarship provides assistance to an outstanding young African American graduate of the Midland Public School system for college tuition and expenses based upon the following:

  1. Applicant must have graduated from a Midland ISD school.

  2. Financial need.

  3. Good character.

  4. Academics.

  5. Desire, dedication and leadership.

To be considered your application must contain:

  • A short essay on the following question: "Looking into the future, what will you contribute to your family and your community as you progress through college and into your chosen career field?" This should not exceed one page typed.

Depending on the version of Acrobat software installed on your computer, you may be able to complete the application form online, in your browser window. Use your Tab key to move to the next blank on the form. After you've completed the form, you may then print and mail it to the Foundation.

Don't worry if you can't complete the form online. Just print the blank form and fill it out by hand or with a typewriter. The method of completion will not affect the consideration given to your application.
