Jimmy Stallings began his accounting and financial services business in Stanton decades ago.
“I’ve never done anything unusual to accumulate wealth. I just went to work every day…for 56 years.”
Mr. Stallings helped establish the Martin County Community Fund in 1993. He recently updated his plans for a personal bequest to Permian Basin Area Foundation. His advice to others who are considering philanthropy, “Get involved in your community. Be an active part of an organization that helps others.”
While he doesn’t do it for the recognition, Mr. Stallings acknowledges that generosity comes with some benefits for the giver as well. “It’s been refreshing when students (receiving scholarships) approach me and tell me how much they appreciate it.”
Permian Basin Area Foundation facilitates the creation of permanent charitable funds in partnership with many donors and provides grants to address community needs and enrich the quality of life in the Permian Basin.
