Permian Basin Area Foundation presented 289 scholarship awards totaling approximately $600,000 to students primarily from communities throughout West Texas. These were made possible by generous donors to the Foundation’s more than 80 endowed scholarship funds.
“Scholarship awards represent an investment in the academic future of our bright young people. It is an impressive sum but the return on that investment in terms of impact on our community, state, and country is priceless,” said Mark Nicholas, chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Governors.
Donors establish scholarships for a variety of reasons—to commemorate an important milestone, in honor or in memory of a loved one, or simply as a way to enrich the community. Every scholarship reflects the heart of the donor and the person or cause he or she chooses to honor.
