Amy Gardner Memorial “Louis Armstrong” Scholarship Fund
Established in her memory by the family of Amy Gardner, the Amy Gardner Memorial “Louis Armstrong” Scholarships are awarded to Andrews High School band students pursuing higher education.
Ann and Roy Northern Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by Scot Northern in honor and memory of his parents, this scholarship recognizes their influence and legacy. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Midland High School who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities, show a strong work ethic through ongoing or summer employment, and express a commitment to succeed in a college environment.
Barbara Yarbrough Scholarship Fund
Established by an anonymous donor, the scholarship honors Barbara Yarbrough for her inspirational role as an educator, volunteer, and community leader. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Midland County public high schools who demonstrate strong character and leadership through their personal conduct and active participation in church and civic activities.
Bill Mims Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by his sister Dixie in 2001, in memory of Bill Mims, a Midland High School graduate who lived a life of service despite being paralyzed in a football accident. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Midland County high schools who will attend an accredited state-funded college or university in Texas.
Blanche Plunkett Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established with donations from friends and family to honor Blanche Plunkett, a beloved retired Midland teacher. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Midland County high schools.
Bob and Bobbie Hill Scholarship Fund
Established by Bonnie Brumley in memory of her parents, Bob and Bobbie Hill, longtime residents of Martin County. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Martin County high schools.
Bob and Dorothy Deavenport Scholarship Fund
Created in 2003 by friends of Bob and Dorothy Deavenport, longtime Martin County citizens and community leaders, to honor their service to the area. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Grady and Stanton High Schools who attend a junior college or four-year university.
Bowers Family Scholarship Fund
Established to perpetuate Geraldine Bowers’ legacy of philanthropy and to honor her daughters, Candy Sue and Linda Ann. Scholarships are awarded to a Midland High School graduate pursuing a course of study leading to an associate’s, bachelor’s, or other advanced degree from a four-year state-funded institution in Texas.
Brian A. Semple Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by his family and friends in memory of Brian A. Semple. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of public Midland County high schools. Recipients must have recently completed or agree to complete a Defensive Driving Course before the beginning of the fall semester.
Carmona Resources Scholarship Fund
Created by Mike and Stephanie Carmona to support Stanton High School graduates pursuing higher education. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Stanton High School.
Cindy B. & Raymond “Scooter” Jenkins Scholarship Fund
Established by the Board of Governors in 2009 to honor Cindy B. Jenkins’ 20 years of service as Scholarship Administrator; Raymond “Scooter” Jenkins’ name was added in 2022 following his passing. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates within the Foundation’s service area.
Clayton Welch Henson Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by family and friends in memory of Clayton Welch Henson, a Stanton High School graduate who was killed in action while serving our Nation in Iraq. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Stanton, Grady, or Greenwood High Schools.
Connell Family Scholarship Fund
Created to honor John Connell, a Stanton native and master cabinetmaker. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Martin County.
Daffy Tabor Memorial Fund
Established in loving memory by her nieces to assist students attending Baylor University. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Andrews, Brewster, Borden, Crane, Crockett, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Jeff Davis, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward, or Winkler County.
Daniel Parker Herd Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Daniel Parker Herd. Scholarships are awarded to Midland County high school graduates, with preference given to students planning to attend an educational institution in Texas.
Danny Ireton Memorial Scholarship
Created in memory of Danny Ireton, a lifelong Stanton resident, devoted church member, volunteer firefighter, and founding member of the First Down Club. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Stanton High School.
Daryl Lynn Hunt Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by Elayne Hunt in memory of her son, Daryl Lynn Hunt, a football standout at Permian High School, University of Oklahoma, and Houston Oilers. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Ector County high schools who competed as an athlete representing their high school in at least one sport.
Decker Family Scholarship for University of Oklahoma Fund
Created in 2014 by Lupe and Randal Decker to benefit students attending the University of Oklahoma. Scholarships are awarded to Midland High School graduates enrolled in a course of study leading to a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business, Christian Ministry, Engineering, Medical Sciences or Services, or Sciences.
Della and Tom Campbell Family Scholarship Fund
Established by Della Campbell, a long-time Pink Lady volunteer at Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (35 years), to assist students pursuing healthcare careers. Scholarships are awarded to students pursuing nursing or healthcare careers at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Howard College, Midland College, or Odessa College.
Dollie Ruth Neal Legacy Scholarship Fund
Established in 2019 to expand the scholarship impact for one-time award recipients at Permian Basin Area Foundation. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates within the Foundation’s service area.
Dollie Ruth Neal Trans-Pecos Scholarship
Established to expand scholarship opportunities for students in the Trans-Pecos region. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Brewster, Culberson, Jeff Davis, Pecos, Presidio, Reeves, or Terrell Counties.
Donnie Munsell Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created in November 1993 by family and friends in memory of Donnie Munsell. Scholarships are awarded to graduating athletes of Andrews High School.
Ed Armstrong Scholarship
Established to honor Ed Armstrong’s legacy. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Pecos High School.
Elizabeth Blair Minor Memorial Scholarship
Created by her daughter, Mandi Higgins, in memory of Elizabeth Blair Minor. Elizabeth was diagnosed with lung cancer and was so grateful to the amazing and compassionate nurses and aides that took care of her. Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors within the Foundation’s service area who are pursuing a degree in nursing.
Elizabeth Henry Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Elizabeth Henry. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Lee High School, Midland, with preference given to students involved in journalism, yearbook, or photography, who will attend an accredited college or university in Texas.
Energy Workforce and Technology Council Scholarship Fund
Established by the Energy Workforce and Technology Council. Scholarships are awarded to employees, spouses, and dependents of participating energy service companies.
Frank Cowden, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by June Cowden to honor her husband’s legacy and devotion to family, church, and community, including the Boy Scouts of America. Frank, who passed away in 2006, dedicated his life to family, church, ranching, and community. Scholarships are awarded annually to young members of the Buffalo Trail Council who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Gene Douglas Hawley Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2008 by family and friends to honor Gene Douglas Hawley’s involvement with St. Luke’s Methodist Church. Scholarships are awarded annually to graduating high school seniors in Midland County who demonstrate character and citizenship, with preference given to active members of St. Luke’s Methodist Church.
George Koehl Soli Deo Gloria Fund
Established by DiAnn Koehl in honor of her late husband, George Koehl, Minister of Music and Worship at First Baptist Church of Midland. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate Christian character and good citizenship through school, church, and civic involvement, including youth fellowship, vacation Bible school or day camp leadership, choir or praise team participation, mission trips, or nonprofit service.
Gordon and Inez Stone Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by Carolyn Stone in memory of her parents. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates of Martin County pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in medicine or ancillary medical services, including nursing, audiology, speech pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or dentistry.
Grace and Bob King Scholarship Fund
Established by friends of the Odessan couple to honor Grace King’s decades of community service. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Ector County public high schools attending Odessa College or the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, or to students pursuing a healthcare career through studies at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa or Midland.
Grace Loveless Jones Scholarship Fund
Established in honor of Grace Loveless Jones, a longtime Martin County resident, schoolteacher, and philanthropist in education. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Grady and Stanton High Schools.
Jacob Power Fighting Rebel Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by family and friends to honor Jacob Power’s life and character. A graduate of Lee High School, Jacob was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident in July 2012. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Lee High School and are announced at the annual Football Banquet.
J. Alex and Ruby Henson Haggard Scholarship Fund
Established by Ruby Henson Haggard in honor of her husband, Alex Haggard. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Grady and Stanton High Schools who enroll in a four-year Texas public institution of higher education.
James L. and Judith A. Roberts Scholarship Fund
Created by former Fire Chief James Roberts and his wife, Judy. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Midland County public high schools who attend a public college or university in Texas and demonstrate school involvement and community service. Preference is given to dependent children of current or retired City of Midland employees eligible for retirement benefits.
Jerry and Beth Larned Education Scholarship Fund
Established to honor Jerry and Beth Larned’s combined 62 years in education. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Monahans High School pursuing a degree in Education.
Jimmie and Dorothy Mashburn Scholarship Fund
Created by Jimmie and Dorothy Mashburn to support educational opportunities leading to personal and professional growth. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Stanton High School, with preference given to students attending Midland College or a technical school.
J. M. and Willa Jo Yater Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and family to honor J. M. Yater, a longtime educator in Martin County schools. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Martin County high schools who demonstrate a high level of academic success and commitment to their educational goals.
Joe E. Morales Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and associates in memory of Joe E. Morales, former Odessa District Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates pursuing a college degree who are either children of current or former Texas Department of Transportation employees or students pursuing civil engineering or careers in heavy and highway construction.
Johnny Peugh Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created to honor Johnny Peugh, a graduate of Sands High School and Texas A&M University who coached basketball locally. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Grady High School.
Junior League of Midland Morrow GEM Scholarship Fund
Established to honor Katy and Paul Morrow and active Junior League members’ dedication to community service. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Midland County high schools who have demonstrated dedication to their community through volunteer service.
Kristen Corbin Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by family and friends in memory of Kristen Corbin, a dedicated student, athlete, and community member. Kristen lettered in cross country, softball, and track and excelled in her first love, basketball. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Andrews High School who participate in athletics.
Lamesa Golden Tornado Jubilee Scholarship Fund
Created by the Golden Tornado Jubilee Committee to support local students. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Lamesa High School.
Love Family Scholarship
Established by Rosita Love and her family to support academic achievement.
Madhuri Vindhya Kumar Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2009 by her parents and husband to honor Madhuri’s life and passion for learning. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of public high schools in Ector County, Texas, pursuing a professional career in medicine, law, or education and enrolled in a college or university in Texas.
Marie Hall Scholarship Fund
Created by Marie Hall, a native of Big Spring, to support West Texas residents attending selected area colleges. Scholarships are awarded to students who graduated from a high school or maintained residency for five years in Andrews, Borden, Cochran, Coke, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Garza, Glasscock, Hockley, Howard, Kent, Loving, Lynn, Martin, Midland, Mitchell, Pecos, Reagan, Reeves, Scurry, Sterling, Upton, Ward, Winkler, or Yoakum Counties, Texas, and attend a full-time program at Angelo State University, San Angelo, Howard College, Big Spring, Midland College, Midland, Odessa College, Odessa, Sul Ross University, Alpine, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Midland, Odessa or Lubbock, or University of Texas of the Permian Basin, Odessa.
Mary Frances “Chan” Driscoll Kappa Alpha Theta Scholarship Fund
Established by Hank and Ted Paup in honor of their mother, Chan Driscoll, a longtime Midland community member and Kappa Alpha Theta alumna. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of public or private high schools in Midland County, Texas, enrolled at an approved Texas college or university, maintaining a 2.5 GPA, and active in Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority as a returning sophomore, junior, or senior. The approved schools include Baylor University, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Texas at Dallas. A request for a letter of recommendation from the chapter president will be sent on the applicant’s behalf.
Mashburn Legacy Scholarship Fund
Established to provide ongoing educational opportunities for Martin County graduates. Scholarships are awarded to graduates who have completed at least one year as a full-time student at a Texas state college, university, or technical school.
Nancy Jo Mims Geers Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by Mary and James W. Mims in memory of their daughter, a professional occupational therapist. Scholarships are awarded to Midland County residents pursuing education and a career in Occupational Therapy.
Nettie Millhollon Scholarship Fund
Established in 2014 by the Nettie Millhollon Educational Trust to support Martin County residents. Scholarships are awarded to Martin County high school graduates pursuing a course of study leading to a bachelor’s or advanced degree.
Olga T. Banks Scholarship Fund
Created by Olga T. Banks, a retired Midland teacher and home economics educator, to honor her dedication to students. In 2012, she was inducted into the Lee Legacy Wall of Honor in recognition of her outstanding service to Robert E. Lee High school. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Midland County public high schools.
Patricia Cobb Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by family and friends to honor Patricia Cobb, a longtime teacher and guidance counselor. Scholarships are awarded to Midland High School graduates active in athletics, based on academics, participation in athletics, and demonstrated desire, dedication, and leadership.
Patrick Wayland Memorial Scholarship Fund
Created by family and friends to honor Patrick Wayland, an outstanding scholar, athlete, Marine Corps officer, and person of faith. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Midland High School.
Permian Basin Geophysical Society David Liebmann Memorial Scholarship
Established to honor the memory of David Liebmann, a longtime Permian Basin Geophysical Society member. Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students in the Foundation’s service area.
Permian Basin Restaurant Association Scholarship Fund
Established to support higher education and vocational opportunities in Culinary Arts. Scholarships are awarded to students who graduated from high schools in Andrews, Borden, Brewster, Crane, Crockett, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Jeff Davis, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward, or Winkler Counties, Texas, and are pursuing studies in hospitality management, restaurant management, food and beverage management, or culinary arts.
Permian High School Class of 2013 Scholarship
Established by the Permian High School Class of 2013. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Permian High School.
Snyder High School Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Snyder High School graduates. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Snyder High School.
Stanton Buffalo Booster Club Scholarship Fund
Created in 2019 by the Stanton Buffalo Booster Club to provide one-time scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Stanton High School and must be used within one year of being awarded.
Stephen Neace Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by family and friends in memory of Stephen Neace, a Monahans High School and University of Texas of the Permian Basin graduate and scientist. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Monahans High School attending the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, with preference given to those majoring in Biology.
Ted G. Roden Memorial Scholarship of Standard Sales Company, L.P. Fund
Established to honor Ted G. Roden, company founder. Scholarships are awarded to full-time employees, spouses, or qualifying children of Standard Sales Company employees, enrolled in a two- or four-year academic program or state-funded technical college resulting in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or post-graduate degree.
The Brad Swendig Scholarship Fund
Established in 2023 in honor of Brad Swendig and his dedication to COM Aquatics. Scholarships are awarded to members of the COM Dive and Swim teams.
Thelma Windham Scholarship Fund
Thelma Bayless Windham, a longtime resident of McCamey and Upton County, is honored by her family with a scholarship in her name. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Upton County high schools who attend an accredited college or university in the state of Texas.
Todd Larned Medical Scholarship Fund
Todd was the son of Coach Jerry and Beth Larned, both educators in Monahans ISD. He attended school in Monahans through third grade before his death from Cystic Fibrosis. He was truly a Lobo fan. The Todd Larned Memorial Award is presented each year at the All Sports Banquet to a senior boy and girl who, like Todd, may not have been the biggest or best athlete but gave it their all. This scholarship was created by his mom and late father in his memory. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Monahans High School who are pursuing a degree in Nursing.
Todd Shiplet Memorial Scholarship Fund
Friends and family established the Todd Shiplet Memorial Scholarship following his death in 2003. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Midland County high schools.
Tommy Norwood Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by his family, the Tommy Norwood Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to Midland High School graduates. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Midland High School who have participated in high school athletics.
Wally Kleine Bulldog Excel Scholarship Fund
This fund was created to honor Wally Kleine, an MHS graduate and NFL player, for his love of sports, academics, and youth. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Midland High School based on academic achievement, three years of participation in MHS athletics, and demonstrated desire, dedication, and leadership.
Warren Charitable Fund
Scholarships are awarded to students within the Foundation’s service area who have demonstrated desire, dedication, and leadership.
WEN Permian Basin Young Women Energized Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors within the Foundation’s service area who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are pursuing a field of study in STEM, Medical Sciences, Nursing (Ancillary Services), or Accounting.
Wes-Tex Telephone Cooperative Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are awarded to a graduating senior from each of the following school districts: Big Spring ISD, Borden County ISD, Coahoma ISD, Forsan ISD, Glasscock ISD, Grady ISD, Greenwood ISD, Reagan County ISD, Sands ISD, and Stanton ISD.
West Texas Legacy Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates within the Foundation’s service area who wish to continue their education at a college, university, or other institution of higher education.
